My alarm goes off. From the moment I open my eyes, I just want to close them again. From the moment I get out of bed, I just want to crawl back under those covers.
Can you identify? It’s not chronic fatigue. It’s not the result of an overly busy schedule or too many classes at college. It’s just a general tiredness when it comes to approaching life.
I’m tired of fighting sin (and often failing).
I’m tired of trying to be perfect.
I’m tired of mustering up the will to be a “good Christian.”
I don’t have enough energy to serve others. I don’t have the power to pray, or to encourage people, or to love my family, or to fight temptation.
But… God never sought out people who were already full. He sought those who were willing to be filled.
I am an empty vessel. I am tired. I am weak.
But in Christ, I am filled. In Christ, I am energized. In Christ, I am strong.
It is only from Christ and His Word that I can get the strength I need to live the life God wants me to live. It is only through His Spirit that I can produce the fruit He wants me to.
The song below communicates this point beautifully. I hope it encourages you!
