God is Sovereign Over Your Summer

There are only two more days until it’s officially summer. That’s right, June 21st marks the beginning of the hottest season of the year. Maybe it’s just me, but… do you ever set unrealistic expectations for summertime? You know, dream vacations, big plans, giant reading lists, get-togethers, fun parties, beach visits, and a whole lot of good food?

Especially when you’re in school, summer is the big chance to do all that stuff you wish you could spend all your time on during the school year. And if you waste this golden opportunity, well–there it goes.

Well, you probably already know what I’m going to say because you guys read the title, but… I’ll say it anyway. God is sovereign over your summer.

What do I mean by that?

I mean that (as always) God already has a big plan for your summer. God already has purposes He’s going to carry out in you in the next “season” of your life (literally and figuratively). That big vacation? That yummy summer barbecue? Go right ahead. But don’t stress out. God’s got this.

But beyond that– I challenge you, and myself, to glorify God with your summer. That’s the whole point, right? So why not set about to draw a little closer to God in the next few months? Why not spend some of that free time pursuing heavenly treasure?

This is the message I need to hear today. I hope that it was encouraging to some of your guys!

Have a wonderful summer!

  1. Makenna, Thanks for that great word. God is calling us to know Him in a closer way and be focused on what matters to Him. Your blog post reminds us to pursue heavenly treasure and glorify God with our summer. Its not about us. Its about Him. Love your blog. Keep it up and speak truth to your generation, as well as the rest of us!
